* Flange Squeal only operates at low speed turns off over 15mph

*** Drive Hold this replaces notching up & down which was quite hard for us to explain & Locked the Engine rev. Using Drive Hold Press F12 Nothing will happen until you select the speed you require. Still the Loco will not move until you turn off F12 the trick using this is to turn this off before MAX Revs are reached, if not the Loco revs will decrease back to idle. Once the Loco has set off you can increase the speed & engine revs as normal

Originally conceived as a cheaper, more reliable alternative to the Advanced Passenger Train in the early 1970s, the British Railways Board authorised the development of a prototype High Speed Diesel Train with two locomotives designated as Class 41. These aerodynamic power cars were constructed by British Railways Engineering Ltd at their Crewe Works with Paxman Valenta 12RP200L engines, developing 2,250 hp.

43123 was delivered into service on 14 April 1979 and 43065 on 15 October 1977 and both power cars have had their operational life extended by the fitting of MTU power units at Brush Traction, 43123 being the last of the Valenta engine HSTs. Both cars are easily identified by virtue of the buffers that were fitted during the ‘surrogate’ DVT period and by the fact that they were redesignated as Class 43/4 following their conversion to MTU power. 43123 was renumbered as 43423 on 31 January 2011 and given the name ‘VALENTA 1972-2010’ on 15 May 2011, while 43065 was renumbered 43465 on 31 December 2010, retaining the name ‘City of Edinburgh’ that it had first received on 25 February 1996.
When originally built by BREL at Crewe Works, the InterCity 125 units consisting of a pair of Class 43 power units and a rake of Mk3 coaches, were considered to be diesel multiple units and allocated as Class 253 to the Western Region and Class 254 for the Eastern Region, as it was envisaged that the sets would remain in fixed formation. The original Inter-City 125 livery of yellow wrap-around ends, with the Rail Blue design being cut diagonally with grey towards the back of the loco, lasted into the early 1980s.
After an iconic life of service on the East Coast Main Line, LNER removed its Inter-City 125s from service at the end of 2019. To celebrate LNER announced a farewell rail tour. The entire train was repainted in the original blue and yellow livery and the tour lasted for four days.
