Authentic ready-to-run OO gauge BR Diesel Brake Tender.
Brake Tenders were introduced to increase the Brake Force available to the new diesels locomotives in the 1960s which struggled to slow down unfitted goods trains due to them being considerably lighter and able to pull heavier loads than their steam predecessors. Towards the End of the 1960’s BR started fitting Braking systems to most wagons and by the early 70’s the Tenders was not used as common as the 60’s.

Based on the later round topped diesel brake tender introduced in 1964–1965 the model features a high level of detail, with Gresley pattern bogies, NEM coupling pockets, scale 14.4mm diameter wheels and separately fitted buffers. An optional dummy screw link coupling is provided with each model. A pair of removable lamps which are factory fitted at each end of the model.
The 2 Lamps Shown Fitted Denotes a Class 8 Freight Train which was partially fitted with a timing speed of 35MPH. Class 9 was a more common use for the Brake Tender which was 1 Oil Lamp fitted to the Right hand Side Looking at the Tender Head on,these trains had a timed speed of 25MPH. It was common during the 60’s for Trains to RUN AWAY out of control and many accidents happened during this period, most Railway personal will be able to recollect such a incident.
