• *Flange Squeal only operates at low speed turns off over 15mph

• ** A Loco can’t have Tails light lit when coupled to other vehicles this includes another Loco, wagons, coaches & brake vans. This was a punishable offence for the Driver on Main Line operation. Intermediate Tails lights on trains had a Special Bell Code for Signalman as this was termed as 2 Trains in 1 Section a sackable offence for the Signalman.
This how serious this was in Railway Times right up to Power Signal Boxes taking over by using Track Circuit Block Signalling (TCB).
This took away from most signalman to observe EVERY train had passed with Tail Light lit. Imagine a train becoming divided in a section then passing the Signal box the signalman saw the Tail Light of the Loco and allowed another train into this section with another part of the train still in the section. All retailers have always overlooked this apart from Bachmann having a flirt with switches under some chassis.

• Our Tail Light Mod, allows you to turn either end on/off using F6 & F7 on V5 Decoders and nothing to do with directional lights

Why not go for the twin sound option, both locos are setup so the function sounds operate in the direction of travel (Horns from the front guard’s whistle from the rear etc.) no need to consist (keep both on same address)

History

LMS No. 10000 and 10001 were the first mainline diesel locomotives built in Great Britain. They were built in association with English Electric by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway at its Derby Works, using an English Electric 1600 hp diesel engine, generator and electrics.

The locomotives operated singly and in multiple on the West Coast Main line and hauled many of the premier named expresses of the day including the Irish Mail, Lakes Express, Manxman, Mancunian, Mid-Day Scot, Coronation Scot, Royal Scot, and Ulster Express, plus outer suburban services from Euston to Watford Junction and Hemel Hempstead.

Under British Railways, the locomotives became British Railways Class D16/1; they were initially operated primarily on mainline express passenger services on former LMS lines, both in single and in multiple. In 1953, they were transferred to the Southern Region for comparison with O. Bulleid’s British Rail Class D16/2 diesel locomotives.

Both locos were withdrawn and scrapped in the 1960s.
