Just released is Bachmann's first sound fitted steam engine, nice looking model however, like Hornby; they have fitted a large speaker with no chamber. this is an attempt to compensate for lack of clarity (which does not work) The Hooter Whistle is nice if a little tinny, but this is more to do with the speaker, like the hornby sound it sound more akin to a typewriter than a steam loco, with no distinct 3- Cylinder beat. However Credit where credit is due, well done to bachmann for releasing a new sound loco that will hopefully get more people interested and a nice list of unique functions. A speaker Mod & Reblow Will give you a fantastic Jubilee. a side note for Bachmann or anyone getting into sound- A Chamber on the back of the speaker Makes the sound a lot clearer, and less tinny.
