Just released is Hornby's new sound fitted steam engine- The Stanier Black Five.
Overall the sound is nice and beefy- like the real thing- however once again they have fitted an oversized speaker, with no chamber, thus producing the same tinny sound as on the Duchess.
At a slow speed Hornby's sound is very authentic and gives you feeling of the real thing. However; at high speed, the sound is merely looped and played faster thus destroying the overall authenticity.
As a starter sound loco for the steam fan, it will certainly get you hooked, though you will soon be wanting better sound and more functionality; which is why
